Princess Cruises Embarks on Ambitious Expansion with Three New Voyager Class Vessels
Princess Cruises has unveiled an ambitious expansion plan, announcing shipbuilding agreements for three new Voyager Class vessels. These ships will set a new record as the largest in the fleet’s history. The announcement was made at the Seatrade Cruise Global event this week, marking a significant long-term investment in the cruise line’s future.
The renowned Italian shipbuilder, Fincantieri, will construct the three ships at its Monfalcone shipyard. The delivery of these vessels is scheduled for late 2035, 2038, and 2039. Each vessel will measure approximately 183,000 gross tons and accommodate roughly 4,700 guests. This makes them larger than Princess’s current Sphere Class ships.
“The Voyager class will delight both our loyal guests and attract the next generation of Princess guests,” said Gus Antorcha, Princess Cruises president. “We have been leveraging extensive customer and agent research to strike the right balance between evolving our proven winners and introducing new concepts.”
The new vessels will feature completely reimagined outer decks, staterooms, and Piazza designs, building upon the award-winning Sphere Class platform. Like the successful Sun Princess and Star Princess, the Voyager Class ships will be dual-fuel powered, primarily using Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to significantly reduce air emissions. These agreements represent Carnival Corporation’s 19th, 20th, and 21st LNG-based vessels and secure work for Fincantieri’s shipyards through 2039.
