Emergency Search Initiated for Disappeared Private Jet in Bolivian Mountains
Bolivian aviation authorities initiated an urgent search operation on Monday. A private Cessna Citation business jet, registered as CP-3243, mysteriously vanished from radar while traversing the mountainous terrain of Cochabamba. The aircraft disappeared around 9:00 AM local time during a routine flight between El Alto and Santa Cruz.
Navegación Aérea y Aeropuertos Bolivianos (Naabol) confirmed a total loss of signal from the aircraft. “Specialized teams are currently working to determine the last known coordinates,” stated Humberto Machicao, the executive director of Naabol. The General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) reported “unusual activity” on the flight path moments before the jet disappeared from radar.
The incident transpired while the Citation was navigating the complex mountainous terrain characteristic of the region between La Paz and Cochabamba. This area is notorious for challenging flying conditions due to high elevations and variable weather. The Cessna Citation, a sophisticated business jet renowned for its reliability, makes the sudden loss of contact particularly alarming for safety investigators.
Search and rescue protocols have been activated, with teams meticulously scanning the rugged landscape using radar data analysis. Aviation experts are examining whether the unusual activity reported by DGAC indicates a mechanical failure or emergency descent. Authorities remain hopeful as they coordinate with local teams to narrow the search area. The investigation is expected to prompt a review of flight monitoring procedures for private aviation within Bolivian airspace.
