AI Powerhouse Moonshot AI Targets $3B Hong Kong IPO at a $50B Valuation
Chinese artificial intelligence pioneer, Moonshot AI, has confidentially filed for an initial public offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. This news comes from multiple sources as reported by Reuters. The Beijing-based firm, known for developing the robust Kimi K3 large language model, aims to raise approximately $3 billion from the listing. This comes as the ongoing funding round values the firm at an impressive $50 billion.
The company’s flagship model, Kimi K3, was launched in July 2026. It boasts a colossal 2.8-trillion-parameter architecture, native multimodality, and a 1-million-token context window. This allows it to process the equivalent of seven average novels in a single pass. The demand for K3 was so high at launch that Moonshot AI had to temporarily halt new user registrations due to infrastructure constraints. Since the model’s release, Moonshot’s daily revenue has reportedly grown sixfold. The company is now on track for a $300 million annualized revenue run rate.
Moonshot AI was founded in 2023 by AI researcher Yang Zhilin. It has received backing from Alibaba, Tencent, Meituan, and China Mobile. The company is also reportedly in talks with Microsoft, Amazon, and Google for cloud distribution agreements. If the Hong Kong listing proceeds, it would rank among the city’s largest IPOs in recent years. It would also be the first major public listing from a post-2023 AI-native Chinese startup. The listing is targeted for as early as Q1 2027, pending regulatory approval.
