Meta Launches Record $95 Billion Stock Offering to Fund AI Ambitions
Meta Platforms has announced plans to raise up to $95 billion in equity—the largest capital raise in the company’s history—to fund a major expansion of its artificial intelligence infrastructure. Announced on October 26, 2026, the offering underscores how aggressively Mark Zuckerberg’s company is investing in AI.
The fundraising is structured in two phases:
- Initial public offerings: $35 billion in underwritten equity offerings, including $22.5 billion in Class A common stock and approximately $12.5 billion in mandatory-convertible preferred stock.
- At-the-market program: An additional $60 billion.
Chipmakers Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom have expressed nonbinding interest in purchasing up to $5 billion in shares as cornerstone investors. Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs are managing both sales.
The proceeds will support Meta’s AI agent Muse, its family of apps, and an extensive data center buildout. Meta projects capital expenditures of $135–$145 billion in 2026 alone.
Despite reporting $64.6 billion in Q3 2026 revenue and holding more than $82 billion in cash, Meta’s AI infrastructure spending has pushed the company into negative free cash flow. Goldman Sachs estimates that AI-related capital spending across the industry could reach $7.6 trillion between 2026 and 2031.
