SpaceX (SPCX) Prepares for Historic Insider Share Release This Week
SpaceX (Nasdaq: SPCX) is gearing up for its most substantial insider share release event since its unprecedented IPO in June 2026. This development comes as Wall Street keenly anticipates the company’s third-quarter earnings report. The rocket and satellite manufacturer, which raised a staggering $85.7 billion at a $135 per share IPO price — marking the largest listing in stock market history — is nearing a crucial lock-up expiration milestone this week.
On October 24, 2026 (trading from October 26), approximately 328.4 million shares will become available for sale as part of the Day-135 time-based tranche. However, an even more significant event is set to occur just days later: in conjunction with SpaceX’s Q3 2026 earnings release, up to 1.3 billion additional shares — representing roughly 28% of the 180-day lock-up block — are poised to enter the market. This event is set to be the single largest supply event since the IPO.
Despite six previous unlock tranches totaling approximately 2.3 billion shares since August, SpaceX stock has impressively risen around 50% from its IPO price, currently trading near $164–$165 per share. CEO Elon Musk’s estimated 6.4 billion shares, however, remain locked until June 2027. The full 180-day lock-up will expire on December 9, 2026. Investors and analysts are keeping a close eye on the situation to determine whether the increasing insider supply will finally challenge the stock’s resilience.
