Galderma’s Landmark Acquisition of ZO Skin Health for $1.5 Billion

In a landmark deal that marks one of the biggest in the beauty industry this year, Swiss dermatology titan Galderma has inked an agreement to acquire California’s ZO Skin Health. The all-cash transaction is valued at a staggering $1.5 billion. Announced on October 14, 2026, this acquisition represents the largest deal since Galderma’s public listing in early 2024.

ZO Skin Health, founded in 2007 by the esteemed dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi, is headquartered in Irvine, California. The brand boasts a diverse portfolio of more than 40 products, which includes cleansers, serums, exfoliators, and toners. These products are sold through a vast network of over 16,500 physicians, medical spas, and online accounts spanning more than 40 countries. In the twelve months ending June 2026, the brand generated an impressive annual net sales figure of approximately $330 million.

The acquisition was financed through Galderma’s existing cash reserves and bank financing, with contributions from shareholders such as Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and the Obagi family. The deal is slated to close in Q4 2026 or early 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. Galderma, already the parent company to leading brands like Cetaphil, Alastin Skincare, Differin, Dysport, and Restylane, anticipates that this acquisition will increase its share of the US physician skincare market to approximately 19%.

Galderma CEO Flemming Ørnskov hailed the acquisition as “another important step toward building the world’s most innovative dermatology portfolio.”
