Significant Drop in UK Christmas Flights in 2026 According to KAYAK
UK holidaymakers can rejoice as the travel search engine KAYAK reveals a significant drop in Christmas and New Year flight prices from the United Kingdom in 2026. The Christmas Travel Check-in 2026 report, published on October 19, shows an average return fare reduction of up to 39% compared to the previous year.
US destinations are leading the way in savings. Flights from the UK to Atlanta have seen a 39% reduction year-on-year, averaging £587 return. This is closely followed by Washington D.C. with a 27% reduction (£514), and Los Angeles with a 20% reduction (£543). Caribbean routes are also more affordable, with fares to Kingston, Jamaica and Montego Bay down by 21% and 18% respectively.
Budget-conscious short-haul travellers can also benefit from the price drop. Six European cities now offer return fares under £150. Dublin leads the pack at just £127, followed by Barcelona (£131), Milan (£142), and Prague and Madrid (both £143), with Amsterdam rounding off the list at £144.
According to KAYAK’s data, December 23 is the most economical day to fly. Average economy return fares are around £615, a striking 36% cheaper than the most searched (and most expensive) departure date of December 19, which averages at £958. Based on trends from 2025, KAYAK suggests booking approximately six weeks before Christmas for the best prices.
