Unveiling the Busiest Airports of 2025: Atlanta Retains the Crown
The Airports Council International (ACI) World has recently unveiled its much-anticipated 2025 rankings of the world’s busiest airports. The report underscores the resilience of global air travel, despite economic turbulence and operational hurdles.
As per the detailed data, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport held its ground as the world’s busiest airport, serving 106.3 million passengers. It was closely followed by Dubai International Airport with 95.2 million passengers. Making significant strides, Tokyo Haneda Airport climbed to the third spot with 91.7 million passengers.
In 2025, global passenger traffic soared to an estimated 9.8 billion travelers. This figure marks a 3.6% increase from 2024 and a noteworthy 7.3% surge compared to pre-pandemic 2019 levels. The top 10 busiest airports collectively accounted for 9% of global passenger traffic. These airports play a pivotal role as crucial hubs, fostering connectivity and facilitating the efficient transit of people and goods across the globe.
“We extend our congratulations to the world’s busiest airports for successfully managing the escalating air travel demand amidst increasing operational complexity,” expressed ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci. He further added that the recovery was primarily propelled by international traffic and growth in the Asia-Pacific region. However, capacity constraints and geopolitical factors persist in altering traffic flows.
