Asian Cruise Ports Witness Remarkable Growth in 2026

Major cruise destinations across Asia are reporting remarkable growth in 2026. Several countries are experiencing double-digit increases in passenger arrivals and are introducing new port infrastructure to accommodate the surging demand.

South Korea

South Korea is expecting to welcome over 1.8 million cruise passengers in 2026, according to Lee Jong-Geun, Deputy Director of the Marine Leisure Tourism Division of Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries. The growth is being driven by international interest in K-Culture and K-Pop, as well as shifting diplomatic relations affecting regional cruise routes. The country has also introduced two new ports of call—Masan and Saemangeum—complementing its existing offerings in Incheon, Seosan, Yeosu, Jeju, Busan, Pohang, and Sokcho.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong recorded double-digit growth exceeding 20% in both passenger arrivals and cruise calls in 2025, with projections for continued expansion in 2026. The Hong Kong Tourism Board is promoting new experiences including 77 Michelin-starred restaurants and VIP shore excursions featuring helicopter rides to attract international cruise lines.

Xiamen, China

Xiamen, China is rapidly emerging as one of the most culturally distinctive international cruise ports, introducing the “One-Hour Tourism Circle” allowing passengers to reach key attractions and the “Meet Minnan – Time Fantasy” immersive cultural tourism project.
