Mexico’s Tourism Boom: 16.5M International Air Visitors in 2025

Mexico has officially joined the ranks of Canada, UK, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany as one of the most visited destinations by U.S. tourists. The country welcomed 16.5 million international visitors by air between January and October 2025, marking an impressive 10.2% increase compared to 2019 levels.

Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, announced that the largest number of visitors came from the United States with 11.16 million arrivals. This represents a 26.7% increase compared to 2019. Canada also contributed significantly with 2.08 million tourists, showing an 18.1% increase over pre-pandemic levels.

The country also recorded strong growth from diverse international markets. Here’s a quick look at the numbers:

  • Italy: up 14.8%
  • Argentina: up 14.3%
  • South Korea: up 11.6%
  • China: up 10.6%

Mexico continues to attract visitors from all age groups, with travelers aged 30-44 representing the largest segment at 29.2%.
