Air Canada and Emirates Forge Ahead with Major Expansion, Extending Partnership Until 2032

Air Canada and Emirates have recently announced a significant expansion and extension of their strategic partnership. The two airlines have signed a memorandum of understanding that will extend their collaboration until December 31, 2032, building on their successful three-year partnership.

Since the inception of their partnership in 2022, the airlines have served over 550,000 customers across 56 codeshare routes. These routes connect Canada, the U.S., Dubai, and other destinations worldwide. The enhanced agreement aims to deepen cooperation between the two carriers, improve customer services, and explore potential for new Canadian gateways in the codeshare network.

The expansion of the partnership also includes a strengthened cargo cooperation. The airlines are exploring a potential joint venture for cargo operations to support the global movement of commodities. Furthermore, both airlines are working towards a seamless transition to Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport post-2032.

Air Canada CEO Mark Galardo has described the partnership as ‘highly successful.’ Officials from Emirates have also emphasized the collaboration’s role in bolstering tourism and trade between countries. The renewed agreement is set to enhance priority benefits for eligible passengers and expand loyalty program reciprocity. This means that members of Aeroplan and Emirates Skywards will enjoy enhanced earning and redemption opportunities across both networks.
