Cirrus Aircraft Breaks Ground on $8M Engine Run-Up Center in Duluth
General aviation manufacturer Cirrus Aircraft has broken ground on a new $8 million, 15,000-square-foot Engine Run-Up Center at its headquarters near Duluth International Airport in Duluth, Minnesota.
The state-of-the-art facility will support safe, efficient engine-system testing and fuel calibration for the company’s SR Series, Vision Jet, and TRAC10 aircraft as part of the certification process. Designed for year-round use, the climate-controlled center will include:
- Two dedicated engine calibration stalls for engine performance checks and functional testing while engines are running
- A separate control room for data analysis and remote adjustments
Zean Nielsen, CEO of Cirrus, called the project “another significant investment in Cirrus’ manufacturing capabilities and our commitment to operational excellence.”
Patrick Waddick, President of Innovation & Operations, noted that the center expands Cirrus’ footprint of more than 1.3 million square feet in Duluth. The company has produced over 12,000 SR Series and Vision Jet aircraft to date.
The Engine Run-Up Center is expected to be completed and operational by summer 2027.
