OpenAI and ADNOC Sign Historic AI Deal at ADIPEC 2026

In a landmark moment for the energy sector and artificial intelligence, Abu Dhabi’s state oil giant ADNOC, tech group G42, and OpenAI signed a multi-year partnership on November 2, 2026, at the ADIPEC energy conference in Abu Dhabi.

The agreement makes ADNOC the first energy company in the world to deploy OpenAI’s Frontier AI platform.

The signing was witnessed by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who travelled to the UAE for the event.

Under the agreement, OpenAI’s advanced GPT models will run on UAE-based sovereign computing infrastructure provided by G42 subsidiary Inception42. AI agents will help analyze supply, demand, crude oil prices, and profit margins before extraction. The partnership also covers cybersecurity through OpenAI’s Daybreak Blue programme.

The ADNOC–OpenAI agreement is one of four deals signed between Abu Dhabi entities and OpenAI at ADIPEC, spanning government, energy, and investment. The agreements align with Abu Dhabi’s 2025–2027 Digital Strategy, which allocates Dh13 billion ($3.5 billion) toward the goal of becoming the world’s first AI-native government.

ADNOC already has more than 200 AI applications and 70 robotics projects in operation or development.
