New Record-Breaking Vessels for Princess Cruises
Princess Cruises has recently made a groundbreaking announcement. They have placed orders for three new Voyager Class vessels, marking the cruise line’s largest and most technologically advanced build to date. The delivery of these impressive ships is scheduled for late 2035, 2038, and 2039.
The three newly announced vessels are each planned to be approximately 183,000 gross tons, with a capacity for about 4,700 guests. This makes them the biggest ships Princess Cruises has ever commissioned. This announcement is a testament to the cruise industry’s continued confidence in the long-term demand for travel. Nearly every major cruise line is placing significant ship orders that extend well into the next decade.
The order from Princess Cruises aligns with a broader industry trend of expansion and increased capacity. As highlighted at the Seatrade Cruise Global 2026, cruise demand continues to climb. Industry leaders are reporting strong growth, with the cruise vacation market remaining robust. Ships are sailing at full capacity and demand is strong across multiple demographics.
However, this rapid expansion has raised some concerns. Questions are being asked about whether port infrastructure can keep pace with the growing fleet sizes. This is particularly relevant at major embarkation points like PortMiami and Port Everglades in South Florida. Managing passenger flow for mega-ships carrying 5,000+ passengers continues to present logistical challenges.
