GTA 6 Requires a Massive 212GB — How to Prepare Your Console
Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will require a staggering 212GB of storage on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That could take up nearly a third of a standard console’s usable drive.
Digital pre-loading opened on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, giving players a nine-day head start before the game’s official release on November 19, 2026. The install will take up a substantial share of available storage:
- Launch-model PS5: About 667GB of usable storage, with GTA VI occupying roughly 32%.
- Xbox Series S: About 364GB of usable storage, with the game using more than 58%.
Rockstar confirmed the file size in a November 3 Newswire post and moved the preload date forward by two days. Physical editions will be sold as code-in-box, with no disc included, and will be available from retailers starting November 12.
Pre-orders for GTA VI have already surpassed a record-breaking 6.08 million, according to data from Sensor Tower. Players are strongly advised to delete unused games and apps now to make room before the preload window.
