Airbnb Plans AI Travel Agent Launch for 2027

Airbnb plans to launch a full-service AI travel agent in the first half of 2027. The San Francisco-based company announced the milestone in its Q3 2026 shareholder letter, published November 5, alongside a strong earnings report. Third-quarter revenue rose 19% to $4.87 billion.

Unlike conventional chatbots, Airbnb’s AI agent is being designed to dynamically display maps, photos, calendars, and trip options as conversations evolve. CEO Brian Chesky described the experience as a “generative UI.” Users will be able to compare accommodations, build itineraries, and complete bookings within a single platform. Over time, the service could expand beyond Airbnb’s core listings to cover more travel categories.

Airbnb also raised its full-year 2026 revenue growth forecast to “high teens,” up from its earlier guidance of “at least mid-teens,” citing resilient global leisure travel demand. In Q3, nights and experiences booked climbed 16% year over year to 155 million.

Rivals Booking Holdings and Expedia are also racing to develop AI booking tools, setting the stage for a landmark year in AI-powered travel in 2027.
