Galderma Acquires ZO Skin Health in a $1.5 Billion Deal

The medical skincare industry has witnessed a significant development. Swiss dermatology leader Galderma declared on October 14, 2026, its decision to acquire ZO Skin Health—the acclaimed skincare brand dispensed by physicians and established by the distinguished dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi. The deal, valued at $1.5 billion USD, is an all-cash transaction.

ZO Skin Health, with its headquarters in Irvine, California, has been a benchmark in professional skincare backed by clinical evidence for over two decades. The brand prides itself on a portfolio of more than 40 products, distributed through a network of approximately 16,500 physicians, medical spas, and online accounts in over 40 countries. As of June 2026, it has generated annual net sales of about $330 million.

The purchase involves shareholders such as the funds managed by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and the founding Obagi family. Galderma’s CEO, Flemming Ornskov, highlighted the strategic alignment of the deal, stating it would enhance Galderma’s footprint in the rapidly growing physician-dispensed skincare sector, which is growing at an estimated 5% to 8% annually. The deal is anticipated to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2026 or early 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.

This transaction marks the largest since Galderma’s IPO in early 2024. It will elevate Galderma to a 19% share of the US physician skincare channel when combined with its Alastin brand.
