Introducing APEX HUD Glasses: A Revolutionary Leap in General Aviation Technology
A groundbreaking new piece of aviation technology is set to transform how general aviation pilots interact with flight data. Three companies — EyeLights, Adventure Pilot, and French aircraft maker AURA AERO — have joined forces to launch the APEX HUD, a set of connected head-up display glasses designed specifically for general aviation pilots.
Head-up display (HUD) technology, a long-standing staple of military and commercial aviation, has been proven to enhance safety, situational awareness, and cockpit efficiency. Now, for the first time, this capability is being packaged into wearable glasses for everyday GA pilots. The APEX HUD connects directly with Adventure Pilot’s popular iFly EFB navigation ecosystem, supporting flight planning, navigation, and real-time in-flight awareness — all projected into the pilot’s forward field of view.
AURA AERO is contributing aircraft integration expertise through its INTEGRAL platform, serving as the manufacturer partner for the program. Pilots using the glasses can fully customize the flight data displayed both during pre-flight planning and while airborne, according to company officials. The system promises to keep pilots’ eyes outside the cockpit where they belong, dramatically reducing the need to scan down at instruments.
The announcement arrives just days before EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026 kicks off on July 20, making it one of the most talked-about innovations heading into aviation’s biggest annual event.
