Awe-Inspiring Appearance of NASA’s Super Guppy at EAA AirVenture 2026

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) has confirmed the aircraft’s appearance, offering aviation fans an exclusive opportunity to witness one of the most distinctively designed aircraft ever to grace the skies. The Super Guppy, with its dry weight of 103,000 pounds, is powered by four Allison T56 turboprop engines. It can carry a 48,000-pound payload within its vast hold, which measures an impressive 111 feet 6 inches long, 25 feet 6 inches high, and 25 feet in diameter.
Introduced in 1965 by Aero Spacelines Industries (ASI) and based on a 1953 Boeing 377 Stratocruiser airframe, the Super Guppy was specifically engineered to transport oversized NASA cargo. This includes everything from rocket stages to spacecraft components that could not be accommodated in any conventional aircraft. NASA asserts that while other aircraft can carry heavier loads, few can rival the Super Guppy’s extraordinary interior dimensions.
