Avgas Hits Six-Month High as U.S. Fuel Costs Rise Again
General aviation pilots and operators across the United States are facing mounting pressure at the fuel pump. Aviation fuel prices climbed for a fourth consecutive month in October, according to the latest data from iFlightPlanner, compiled from prices at more than 3,367 FBOs and fuel service providers nationwide.
Both major aviation fuels reached new six-month highs:
- Full-service 100LL avgas: $7.85 per gallon, up 10 cents (1.3%) from September.
- Full-service Jet A: $8.66 per gallon, up 30 cents (3.6%) month over month.
The steepest prices were recorded in Alaska and Hawaii, where Jet A approached $10 per gallon.
The longer-term trend is even more striking. Since February 2026, full-service 100LL prices have surged 22.1%, while Jet A prices have climbed 35.1%. In the contiguous 48 states, pilots in New England and the Eastern region face the highest costs, with Jet A averaging $9.11 and $9.03 per gallon, respectively.
Self-service 100LL continues to offer meaningful relief, averaging $6.82 per gallon—about $1.03 less than full-service. That difference amounts to approximately $41 in savings on a 40-gallon fill-up.
