BETA Technologies Unveils eVTOL in a Spectacular Vermont Flight Demonstration

Vermont-based BETA Technologies recently showcased its all-electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft in a clear demonstration. This event took place during media events at its Burlington headquarters, where multiple flights of both its A250 eVTOL and CX300 conventional take-off variants were performed.

On June 3, 2026, the company executed a formation flyby with four Alia aircraft, including three CTOL and one VTOL models. These aircraft types share an 80% commonality, featuring nearly identical cockpits and flight controls. The primary focus of this electric aviation startup is to achieve FAA certification for its conventional CX300 aircraft over the next year, with the A250 eVTOL to follow suit.

Thanks to the FAA’s new eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, BETA has received approval to initiate limited Alia operations even before obtaining full certification. The initial operations are set to include cargo and medical flights in Vermont and New York starting in September, with potential expansion to other states. US Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy, had the opportunity to fly in BETA’s CX300 on June 1, praising it as a technology that will “fundamentally change the way people and products move“. BETA is participating in seven of the eight FAA eVTOL pilot projects, more than any other manufacturer.
