Alaska Airlines Resumes Long Beach Service After a Decade

Alaska Airlines has recently announced the resumption of its nonstop service between Seattle and Long Beach, California. This service is set to commence on September 8, 2026, marking the carrier’s return to Long Beach Municipal Airport after a ten-year hiatus.

The airline will operate twice-daily, year-round flights on this route, utilizing Boeing 737 aircraft. This move is a part of a more extensive California network growth that includes three new seasonal routes from Santa Rosa to Boise, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City. These new routes are scheduled to launch on November 1, 2026.

Kirsten Amrine, vice president of network planning and revenue management at Alaska Airlines, stated: “Alaska is committed to California, and we’re proud to offer guests across the state even more options for their next vacation or work trip.”

With the addition of the Long Beach-Seattle route, Alaska will become the only airline to fly between Seattle and all five major Los Angeles Basin airports. This move solidifies Alaska’s position as the carrier serving more California airports year-round than any other airline. It’s worth noting that Hawaiian Airlines, now part of the Alaska Air Group, already operates flights from Long Beach to Hawaii.

The new Santa Rosa routes will feature Starlink Wi-Fi connectivity across Alaska’s regional fleet. This makes Alaska the only airline in the world with its entire regional fleet equipped with gate-to-gate internet service. The Starlink Wi-Fi service will be extended to Alaska’s mainline fleet, which serves Long Beach, throughout the year 2026.

In the past, the Long Beach market saw up to seven daily services on the Seattle route. The year 2012 holds the record for the highest local Seattle-Long Beach traffic, with 366,688 passengers.
