Thrust Flight and Hampton University Collaborate to Train Future Pilots
A significant initiative to diversify and broaden the U.S. pilot pipeline is in progress. The Texas-based aviation training company, Thrust Flight, has formally teamed up with Hampton University’s Department of Aviation. This collaboration designates Thrust Flight as the university’s primary provider of flight-training. The partnership, announced on August 20 and launched on August 26, 2026, signifies the establishment of Thrust Flight’s first East Coast location. This new campus is conveniently located near the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) in Virginia.
As per the agreement, Thrust Flight will provide Private, Instrument, Commercial, and Flight Instructor training under its FAA Part 141 certificate to Hampton University students enrolled in the Flight Education curriculum. Additionally, the campus will also welcome the general public, offering the company’s signature Zero Time to Airline® accelerated pilot program and Aircraft & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic training.
The collaboration is structured in two phases. Initially, Thrust Flight will function as Hampton’s authorized training provider. In the second phase, they will assist the university in obtaining its own FAA Part 141 Pilot School certificate. This will eventually enable Hampton to manage its flight operations independently. This expansion marks Thrust Flight’s sixth U.S. location, augmenting a network that already extends across Texas and Arizona.
