Windstar Unveils the Fully Transformed Iconic Wind Star Yacht

Windstar Cruises proudly announces the completion of a comprehensive two-phase refurbishment of its original sailing yacht, the Wind Star. This milestone marks the 40th anniversary of the 148-guest vessel and sets it as the pioneer in the Wind Class fleet to conclude the company’s ambitious “Setting Sails” redesign initiative.

The multi-million dollar transformation breathes new life into the staterooms with features such as new upholstered headboards, integrated lighting, bedside charging, upgraded technology, and Starlink connectivity. The public spaces have also received extensive updates, enhancing the overall guest experience.

  • The lobby, Compass Rose Lounge, and Yacht Club CafĂ© have been revamped to exude a more modern and elegant vibe.
  • The pool deck, World Spa, and fitness center have been upgraded to provide a more luxurious and relaxing environment.
  • The signature Amphora restaurant has been completely redesigned with new flooring, custom banquette seating, and updated furnishings, promising a more enjoyable dining experience.

“This transformation is about honoring where we started while sailing confidently into what’s next,” said Stijn Creupelandt, Chief Operating Officer of Windstar Cruises. “As our original sailing yacht, Wind Star has always held a special place in our fleet.” The vessel returned to service on April 7, 2026, with a 10-night sailing from Lisbon to Barcelona and will operate Greek Isles itineraries through October before heading to Tahiti for year-round sailings in 2027.

The 342-guest Wind Surf is scheduled to complete Phase 2 in December 2026, followed by Wind Spirit in March 2027. This ensures the entire sailing fleet reflects Windstar’s modern yacht aesthetic, promising an enhanced sailing experience for all guests.
