MSC Cruises Unveils Ambitious Expansion Plans for Ocean Cay Island
MSC Cruises has announced an ambitious expansion plan for its private island destination, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, located in the Bahamas. The extensive upgrade is set for completion by the end of 2027.
The upgrade will introduce four new dining experiences, taking the total to seven island-wide venues. These will include a signature specialty restaurant, new buffets, and food market options. In addition, the island will unveil Paradise Sands, an exclusive adults-only beach retreat. By day, it offers a tranquil relaxation spot, transforming into a sunset cocktail venue by night.
For family-oriented fun, Seakers Cove Family Beach will undergo significant enhancements. These include a children’s playground, splashpad, and a ropes course with water elements. Added amenities such as ping-pong and foosball tables will also be available. The area will host various activities, tournaments, and interactive games, creating an ultimate multi-generational experience.
Construction is already underway to extend the pier to accommodate two ships simultaneously. This will allow MSC to bring more guests to this popular destination. Additionally, the cruise line will introduce a wider variety of cabanas and a new MSC Foundation “Shifting Perspective” marine conservation experience. This will invite guests to explore coral restoration and ocean ecosystems through hands-on activities.
Ocean Cay, which opened in late 2019, was transformed from a former industrial sand excavation site into a pristine island destination with over two miles of white sand beaches. The island has since been recognized as a Hope Spot by Mission Blue for its significant role in supporting marine biodiversity.
