Galderma Acquires ZO Skin Health in a $1.5 Billion Landmark Deal
Swiss skincare titan, Galderma, has confirmed the acquisition of the California-based ZO Skin Health for a staggering $1.5 billion. This all-cash transaction marks Galderma’s largest acquisition since its stock market listing in early 2024. Announced on October 14, 2026, this deal is poised to significantly bolster Galderma’s presence in the rapidly expanding physician-dispensed and medical-grade skincare market.
ZO Skin Health, a brainchild of the esteemed dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi, operates from its headquarters in Irvine, California. The brand boasts a globally acclaimed portfolio of over 40 clinically approved skincare products. These products are distributed via more than 16,500 physician offices, medical spas, and online accounts spanning over 40 countries. The brand reported approximately $330 million in net sales in the year ending June 2026.
With this acquisition, ZO Skin Health will be integrated into Galderma’s existing portfolio of dermatological giants, including Cetaphil and Alastin. This merger is anticipated to diversify the skincare solutions Galderma provides to healthcare professionals, combining ZO’s retinol- and acid-based daily regimens with Alastin’s peptide-based regenerative care. The selling shareholders include investment firm Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and the Obagi family.
The deal is projected to be finalized in Q4 2026 or early 2027, pending regulatory approvals. Galderma CEO Flemming Ornskov highlighted that the physician-dispensed skincare sector is witnessing an annual growth of approximately 5% to 8%, making this acquisition a strategically opportune move.
