Royal Air Maroc Inaugurates Groundbreaking Los Angeles-Africa Connection

Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc, is set to make aviation history by launching the first nonstop service between Los Angeles and Africa. The inaugural flight is scheduled for June 7, 2026, establishing a direct link from LAX to Casablanca.

The new service will operate three times per week aboard the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. With an approximate flight time of 11 hours, this marks a significant expansion in the airline’s long-haul network. Furthermore, it strategically positions Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport as a key hub connecting Africa, Europe, and the Americas. This service is a timely response to the growing demand for intercontinental travel, particularly in anticipation of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in North America.

Royal Air Maroc CEO Hamid Addou hailed the route as “much more than a new destination” and “a historic milestone for the airline and for Africa’s air connectivity.” The Los Angeles service will become Royal Air Maroc’s sixth North American destination, joining the existing routes to:

  • New York
  • Washington D.C.
  • Miami
  • Montreal
  • Toronto

This expansion not only strengthens Morocco’s position as a global aviation hub but also strategically anticipates the FIFA World Cup 2030, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal. As a member of the Oneworld alliance, Royal Air Maroc connects passengers to a network of over 520 million travelers and 900 destinations in 170 countries worldwide.
