Unveiling 2025: Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Project Expands Luxury Tourism

Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Red Sea Project is set to further enhance its luxury tourism landscape with a series of premier resort inaugurations slated for 2025. This includes the flagship Shura Island development, which boasts 11 world-class hotels and the Kingdom’s inaugural 18-hole championship golf course.

As a crucial part of Saudi Vision 2030, this mega-tourism destination has been making significant strides since its initial resort opening in 2023. Phase one encompasses 16 iconic resorts spread across three islands and two inland sites. These offer approximately 3,000 rooms managed by globally acclaimed brands such as:

  • Hyatt
  • Fairmont
  • InterContinental
  • Rosewood
  • Ritz-Carlton

The exclusive Nujuma Ritz-Carlton Reserve, inaugurated in May 2024, has earned the distinction of being the Middle East’s priciest hotel, with an average nightly rate of around $3,431.

Access to the project is facilitated through the Red Sea International Airport, which commenced operations in 2023 and is due for full completion in 2025. The development places a strong emphasis on sustainability, incorporating 100% renewable energy, zero waste-to-landfill policies, and plans to plant over 50 million mangrove trees.

Upon its completion in 2030, the destination is set to feature 50 hotels with 8,000 rooms spread across 22 islands and six inland sites. To maintain the ecosystem, visitor numbers will be capped at one million annually.
