Oracle and OpenAI Embed ChatGPT and Codex in Enterprise Apps
Oracle and OpenAI have announced an expanded partnership to embed ChatGPT and Codex directly into Oracle business applications and database products. The announcement was made at Oracle AI World 2026 in Las Vegas, where OpenAI CEO Sam Altman joined Oracle co-CEO Clay Magouyrk on stage for a keynote.
The integration will allow enterprise customers in sectors such as healthcare and finance to use OpenAI’s AI tools—including the Codex coding agent—within the Oracle ecosystem. Oracle reported that its employees are already using the technology at scale:
- 130,000 active ChatGPT users
- More than 95,000 Codex users
- A reported 98% reduction in research time for Oracle’s talent acquisition team
The partnership also extends to cloud infrastructure. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) plans to expand its hardware offerings to include Google TPUs, OpenAI’s custom Jalapeño inference chip, and Cerebras systems. This would mark the first time Google TPUs run on a rival hyperscaler’s cloud.
Altman said GPT-6 has seen the strongest adoption of any new OpenAI model to date. Oracle’s co-CEO added that AI now produces more than 70% of Oracle’s software.
