New $13M Spirit Sky Club Launches at St. Louis Airport Amidst Hangar Deficit
A brand-new private aviation membership facility, the Spirit Sky Club, has officially opened its doors at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport (KSUS) in Chesterfield, Missouri. The timing couldn’t be more perfect for the region’s pilots. This $13 million first-phase development welcomed its first members on June 5, 2026, just ahead of the much-anticipated Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo headlined by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.
The facility boasts 28 insulated, climate-controlled hangars sprawling over approximately eight acres on the airport’s north end. Each hangar is designed to accommodate aircraft ranging from single-engine pistons to light business jets, complete with private bathrooms and enhanced security. The club is set to serve around 30 owner-operator members in its first phase.
The development directly addresses a well-documented crunch in hangar availability: the airport’s most recent count showed more than 150 parties on its hangar waitlist. The Spirit Sky Club was conceived and brought to life by two father-son pairs — Douglas and Alexander Martin, and Kevin and Griffin Alm. Described by its founders as a project “built by pilots, for pilots,” the club is backed entirely by local St. Louis aviation enthusiasts.
The club’s opening coincides with the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo scheduled for June 6–7, 2026. This two-day celebration marks the 250th anniversary of the United States with the theme “250 Years of American Spirit.”
