Orient Express Debuts Luxurious Venice Hotel in Historic Palazzo

Orient Express has recently revealed its newest gem, the Orient Express Venezia at Palazzo Donà Giovannelli. This marks the first instance in nearly six centuries that the 15th-century palazzo has been transformed into a hotel. The grand opening took place on March 30, 2026, following a meticulous eight-year restoration.

The 47-room hotel is nestled within the opulent Palazzo Donà Giovannelli, located in Venice’s historic Cannaregio district, a picturesque spot where two canals converge along the Rio di Noale. The palazzo, originally constructed in 1436, has been completely re-envisioned by renowned architect and interior designer Aline Asmar d’Amman. The design seamlessly blends contemporary elegance with the timeless craftsmanship of Venetian artisans.

“This hotel embodies the essence of Orient Express: a constellation of rare experiences, each rooted in heritage yet reimagined for a new generation of discerning travelers,” – Gilda Perez-Alvarado, CEO of Orient Express.

The property boasts six Signature Suites adorned with restored murals, sculptural ceilings, and offering breathtaking views of Venice’s gardens and canals. The hotel offers a variety of dining experiences:

  • Heinz Beck Venezia – A fine-dining restaurant by three-Michelin-starred chef Heinz Beck.
  • La Casati – An all-day restaurant serving a variety of dishes.
  • Wagon Bar – An Art Deco-inspired bar offering signature cocktails and Venetian cicchetti.

This unveiling follows the successful launch of Orient Express La Minerva in Rome last year, and the introduction of La Dolce Vita Orient Express train journeys. These developments place Italy at the forefront of the brand’s luxury travel expansion.
