Iconic Art Deco Hotel, The Georgian, Joins Hyatt’s Unbound Collection
On March 17, 2026, Hyatt Hotels Corporation made an exciting announcement. The Georgian, a historic Art Deco oceanfront hotel in Santa Monica, has officially become a part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. This iconic property, which has been a staple on Ocean Avenue since the 1930s, provides guests with an unparalleled view of California’s Pacific coastline.
The hotel, boasting 84 rooms, including 28 suites offering uninterrupted ocean views, underwent a thorough restoration. The restoration was completed in 2023 by JB Hotel Group. The landmark’s unique turquoise façade was brought back to its original hue, and the Art Deco plasterwork and moldings were delicately revived. The property, built by hotelier Mrs. Rosamond Borde and designed by architect M. Eugene Durfee, beautifully captures the essence of Hollywood’s golden age with its Havana-deco flourishes and sunlit public spaces.
As a Category 6 World of Hyatt property, award nights range from 21,000 to 29,000 points. Cash rates start at a modest $700 per night. The hotel offers multiple dining venues, each celebrating the unique flavors of seasonal Californian cuisine. Additionally, guests can enjoy a curated library featuring works by Joan Didion and Eve Babitz, and Gallery 33, which showcases both contemporary and renowned artists. This addition to the Hyatt family provides loyalists with their first true beachfront luxury option in Santa Monica, effectively filling a long-standing gap in the brand’s Southern California portfolio.
