Hyatt Announces Major Expansion in Southeast US with Over 30 Hotels and 4,000 Rooms
Hyatt Hotels Corporation unveiled a significant expansion plan for its Essentials portfolio across the Southeastern United States on March 16, 2026. The plan includes more than 30 new hotels, representing approximately 4,000 rooms in its executed pipeline. The expansion will feature Hyatt Studios, Hyatt Select, Hyatt Place, and Hyatt House properties across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama.
“The Southeast continues to lead the country in population growth and corporate relocation activity, creating sustained lodging demand in smaller markets,” said Jason Ballard, SVP Global Brand Leader for Hyatt’s Essentials Portfolio. This planned growth highlights Hyatt’s commitment to scaling its brands in primary markets, as well as in secondary and tertiary markets that haven’t previously had a Hyatt hotel.
The Southeastern states are witnessing population growth, infrastructure investment, and sustained corporate travel, all of which are driving increased hotel demand. Hyatt’s Essentials portfolio is strategically positioned to capture this demand by scaling both established brands and newer offerings in underpenetrated markets across the Southeast region.
Hiren Desai, CEO of development partner 3H Group, who has opened two Hyatt Studios locations in Alabama with a third opening in Florida this year, noted that “the hotels are ramping quickly and gaining traction with both extended-stay guests and corporate travelers.” This expansion reflects owner confidence in Hyatt’s strategy and represents a significant opportunity to introduce Hyatt to new guests and World of Hyatt loyalty members across the region, with properties expected to open progressively throughout 2026 and into 2027.
