Harvard Research: Daily Multivitamins Could Decelerate Aging by 4 Months

A groundbreaking study, published in Nature Medicine on March 9, 2026, unveils that daily multivitamin supplementation could decelerate biological aging by approximately four months over a span of two years.

Researchers from Harvard and Mass General Brigham scrutinized data from the COcoa Supplement and Multivitamins Outcomes Study (COSMOS), analyzing DNA methylation data from blood samples of 958 randomly selected healthy participants with an average age of 70. They used epigenetic clocks to estimate biological aging.

The study discovered that the multivitamin group experienced significantly slower progression on measures called PCGrimAge and PCPhenoAge, translating to approximately 2.7 to 5.1 months of slowed aging.

“There is a lot of interest today in identifying ways to not just live longer, but to live better,” said senior author Howard Sesso, a preventive medicine specialist at Mass General and Harvard Chan School epidemiologist.

The benefits were particularly pronounced in participants who were biologically older than their actual age at the start of the trial. This opens new possibilities for accessible, safe interventions that contribute to healthier aging.
