Club Med Announces Reservations for New Eco-Resort in Borneo, Malaysia
Club Med has revealed that reservations for its much-awaited Club Med Borneo resort will officially commence on March 24, 2026. This is in anticipation of the property’s planned launch in November 2026. The new beachfront development signifies a substantial expansion for the premium all-inclusive hospitality brand in Southeast Asia.
Strategically located in Kuala Penyu on Sabah’s west coast, a mere 90 minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the resort is set to become Club Med’s second property in Malaysia. This follows the success of Club Med Cherating. Nestled between a tropical rainforest and the South China Sea, the 17-hectare beachfront development is touted as a premium all-inclusive destination that harmoniously blends nature, cultural experiences, and family-friendly amenities.
The resort is poised to be the brand’s first large-scale beach resort in Asia Pacific designed to meet BREEAM sustainability certification standards. Club Med Borneo will boast 400 elegantly designed guest rooms, including 39 Exclusive Collection Suites offering enhanced privacy and upscale amenities. The property will also feature a unique “resort-within-a-resort” concept known as the Mutiara Exclusive Collection space, complete with a private lounge, exclusive swimming pool, and the Bayu Bar.
Upon its opening, Club Med Borneo is projected to create over 350 jobs, thereby introducing a new large-scale resort option in Sabah’s burgeoning tourism sector. The property will be offering complimentary room upgrades, subject to availability, for stays from November 16, 2026 to January 3, 2027.
