SAN FRANCISCO — October 24, 2026 — Waymo, Alphabet’s autonomous vehicle subsidiary, has closed a landmark $5 billion term loan — its first-ever debt financing — led by investment titans PIMCO, Blackstone, and Sixth Street Partners, with Goldman Sachs serving as sole lead bookrunner. The deal, announced on October 8, 2026, and originally sought at $3 billion, was upsized due to overwhelming investor demand, signaling powerful institutional confidence in the future of autonomous mobility.

Additional lenders include Capital Group, T. Rowe Price, Apollo, Blue Owl, Franklin Templeton, Fidelity, HPS Investment Partners, and Oaktree. The financing brings Waymo’s total capital raised to $32.3 billion since 2020, following a blockbuster $16 billion equity round in February 2026 that valued the company at $126 billion.

Waymo currently operates fully driverless ride-hailing services across 15 U.S. markets — including Phoenix, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Miami — and is actively testing its technology in London and Tokyo ahead of planned international launches. CFO Steve Fieler said the debt financing marks “a significant step” in the company’s evolution toward a scaled commercial enterprise. The funds will fuel expansion into new U.S. cities and Waymo’s first robotaxi footholds in Europe and Asia.
