The booming use of GLP-1 weight-loss medications like Ozempic and Mounjaro is reshaping the beauty and skincare industry — and L’Oréal is racing to respond. On October 23, L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus confirmed that the rise of weight-loss drugs is directly impacting skincare consumption, as more consumers experience significant changes to their facial appearance following rapid weight loss, including skin sagging and loss of facial volume.
L’Oréal is now actively testing products on GLP-1 drug users, with the company’s Chief Innovation Officer Delphine Viguier-Hovasse noting that “this group of consumers is becoming increasingly important and represents a significant number of people worldwide.” Competitor brand Galderma is also developing aesthetic treatments targeting the same concern, underscoring how deeply weight-loss drugs are disrupting the beauty sector.
The announcement came alongside a stellar Q3 2026 earnings report, in which L’Oréal posted sales of €11.56 billion — a 7.7% reported increase — beating analyst forecasts of 5.9% growth. Skincare lines including La Roche-Posay and SkinCeuticals grew in double digits, while the company’s luxury division surged 7% driven by strong fragrance sales and rising demand from China. The beauty giant’s nine-month revenue reached €35.34 billion, up 6.9% on a like-for-like basis.
