Nvidia Announces Over 15% Price Increase for AI Servers

Nvidia, the leading AI chipmaker globally, has officially informed its major customers about an impending price increase. The cost of servers equipped with its artificial intelligence chips is set to rise by over 15% in numerous instances. This significant change, driven by escalating memory chip costs, is causing ripples across the global tech industry.

As reported by Bloomberg on August 24, the price hikes will be implemented on systems shipped early next year. The increase will impact some of Nvidia’s most potent and in-demand chip generations, including the flagship Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell systems. The exact rise will vary based on chip generation and memory configurations.

Contract server builders for large data center operators, such as Microsoft, Alphabet’s Google, and Oracle, have already started notifying their customers about the upcoming price hikes. Major hyperscalers like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Meta, despite having in-house chip programs, continue to rely heavily on Nvidia for their data center expansions.

This announcement comes just days before Nvidia’s scheduled second-quarter financial results release on August 26. This timing is particularly noteworthy for investors and the wider AI ecosystem. The leading chip company’s inability to absorb the rising memory costs underscores the increasing influence that memory manufacturers, such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology, now wield over the AI supply chain.
