Aer Lingus Accelerates Deployment of Complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi on Transatlantic Flights
Aer Lingus is swiftly expanding the implementation of SpaceX Starlink-powered Wi-Fi across its fleet. This move brings free, high-speed internet connectivity to passengers on transatlantic routes. The Irish flag carrier, a member of the International Airlines Group (IAG), introduced the service on March 29, 2026. The inaugural Starlink-enabled flight was an Airbus A330 operating route EI105 from Dublin to New York JFK.
The Starlink system provides download speeds of up to 500+ Mbps. It is powered by SpaceX’s constellation of over 10,000 low-Earth orbit satellites operating at approximately 550 km altitude. This system delivers near-home broadband speeds, enabling passengers to stream, work, game, and video call with ease — even over the mid-Atlantic. Best of all, the Wi-Fi is free of charge across all cabin classes on equipped aircraft.
Since its launch, Aer Lingus has continued to add Starlink-enabled aircraft. All transatlantic flights from Shannon Airport are now equipped with the technology. The airline aims to complete the rollout across its entire long-haul fleet by early 2027. Short-haul European routes will be equipped in the subsequent phases. This initiative places Aer Lingus among the first European carriers to integrate Starlink at scale, setting a new industry standard for inflight connectivity.
