Experience the Pinnacle of Luxury at 1 Hotel Austin, Opening in Texas’ Tallest Tower This August

A breathtaking new addition to Austin’s skyline is set to redefine luxury accommodation. 1 Hotel Austin, the much-awaited eco-luxury establishment from the sustainability-focused hospitality brand, 1 Hotels, is slated to open its doors in August 2026. The hotel is housed in the stunning Waterline tower, a 74-story skyscraper located at 98 Red River Street. Standing approximately 1,025 feet tall, it is the tallest building in Texas and the entire Southern United States.

The hotel, with its 252 rooms and 60 luxury suites, is nestled at the picturesque confluence of Waller Creek and Lady Bird Lake in Austin’s lively Rainey Street District. The design, a collaborative effort by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) and Studio MAI, takes inspiration from modern Hill Country ranch architecture and traditional Texas river houses. The biophilic interiors feature planted balconies, outdoor terraces, native landscaping, floor-to-ceiling windows, wood ceilings, and natural stone.

Guests can anticipate a culinary journey led by James Beard-nominated Chef Johnny Curiel of Denver’s Michelin-starred Alma Fonda Fina. The hotel’s signature restaurant, Alteño Austin, showcases the rich flavors of Mexico’s Jalisco Highlands. Other notable features include a Bamford Wellness Spa, a 2,000-square-foot fitness center, a rooftop lounge named Watr on the 16th floor, and a cozy lobby café-wine bar, Neighbors. In line with 1 Hotels’ commitment to sustainability, the property is also working towards achieving LEED Gold certification.
