Cosmic One: The Revolutionary Electric 4-Seater Transforming General Aviation’s Future

A bold new chapter in electric aviation has arrived. Cosmic Aerospace, a startup based in Centennial, Colorado, has officially unveiled the Cosmic One — a four-seat, all-electic aircraft designed specifically for certification under the FAA’s newly effective MOSAIC (Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification) rules, which took effect on July 24, 2026.

The Cosmic One features a unique six-motor embedded propulsion system integrated directly into the wing. This innovative design improves aerodynamics, cabin visibility, and redundancy safety. Performance targets for this groundbreaking aircraft include:

  • A 250-nautical-mile range
  • A 250-knot maximum speed
  • An impressively short 30-minute recharge time

With these features, the aircraft is perfectly suited for private owners, flight schools, and flying clubs.

Centennial Flyers, one of the largest flying clubs in the U.S. operating 42 aircraft, has been announced as the first U.S. launch customer. They have signed a letter of intent for four aircraft with an option for two more. Cosmic has also opened reservations for the first 100 aircraft, requiring a fully refundable $2,500 deposit for the Founder Series. The company is targeting a prototype first flight in 2028 and customer deliveries beginning in 2029.

Under traditional FAA Part 23 rules, certifying a new aircraft with a novel propulsion system could take nearly a decade and cost hundreds of millions of dollars. MOSAIC dramatically changes that equation, and Cosmic Aerospace is betting everything on it.
