Nvidia CEO’s Signed Tom Ford Jacket Fetches a Whopping $960,000 at Sotheby’s
The fever for tech CEO memorabilia has reached an all-time high. A pre-worn, signed black Tom Ford leather jacket once owned by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was sold at a Sotheby’s charity auction on July 17, 2026. The jacket fetched a staggering $960,000, a figure that is more than 16 times the auction house’s pre-sale estimate of $40,000 to $60,000, and far exceeds the jacket’s retail price of just under $10,000.
The extraordinary sale took place over a 10-day auction period, attracting the attention of 45 bidders and drawing 65 bids before finally closing. The jacket was photo-matched by the Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) to Huang’s appearance at the Hon Hai Tech Day in Taipei, Taiwan on October 18, 2023. Additionally, Huang’s signature on the jacket was authenticated by James Spence Authentication.
Huang’s black leather jacket has become a symbol in the tech world, as iconic to Silicon Valley as Steve Jobs’ black turtleneck or Mark Zuckerberg’s grey hoodies. For nearly 20 years, Huang has been spotted donning similar jackets at Nvidia product launches, developer conferences, and major keynote events.
The proceeds from this remarkable auction will benefit the Edge Institute, a nonprofit research organization that supports fellowships, grants, and residencies for the next generation of tech and science innovators. The institute is organized by the San Francisco-based venture capital firm, Long Journey Ventures.
