Introducing AXIS™: Garmin’s Revolutionary All-in-One GA Cockpit Display
Garmin has just revolutionized the general aviation world with the launch of AXIS™, a pioneering new range of flight displays. This groundbreaking technology integrates an IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio, and audio panel all into a single touchscreen unit — a first in the industry. The AXIS system, announced on July 8, 2026, is designed for certified piston single and twin-engine aircraft, experimental builds, and Light Sport Aircraft under the FAA’s MOSAIC framework.
The flagship 11.6-inch AXIS display has already received FAA and EASA Technical Standard Order (TSO) approval and is available this month. An 8-inch version is expected to hit the market in early 2027. The FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) covers hundreds of certified Part 23 Class I/II piston aircraft. What’s more, the system is designed as a near drop-in upgrade for pilots already flying with Garmin’s G3X Touch displays, sharing the same panel cutouts and mounting points.
Pricing for the AXIS system varies depending on the configuration. Here’s a quick rundown:
- $8,000 for a basic experimental VFR setup
- $51,800 for a dual 11.6-inch display configuration with dual IFR GPS and NAV/COMM capability
Safety features of the AXIS system include a dedicated emergency button, Smart Glide engine-failure navigation, Runway Occupancy Awareness, and Enhanced Synthetic Vision Technology.
“AXIS sets the new standard for what pilots can expect from an integrated flight display system,” said Carl Wolf, Garmin’s Vice President of Aviation Sales, Marketing, Programs & Support.
