Moore County Airport Commences Construction on Defense-Centric Corporate Hangars
Moore County Airport (KSOP), located in Carthage, North Carolina, has officially initiated the construction of two new corporate aircraft hangars. The groundbreaking ceremony was graced by the presence of state and local elected officials, airport leaders, and business representatives, marking a significant stride in the airport’s ambitious expansion strategy.
Upon completion, the new facilities will be home to defense contractors Titan Echelon and AVA Technologies. These burgeoning firms offer a wide range of services including aviation, logistics, technology development, national security, and specialized government operations. The construction, masterminded by SBS Sandhills Building Systems, is projected to reach completion by mid-2027.
This project is a part of a larger growth initiative at the airport, which encompasses additional hangar development, the construction of a new Fixed Base Operator (FBO) terminal building, and ongoing efforts to revive commercial air service to the region. Currently, Moore County Airport contributes more than $135 million in annual economic output to the local area.
“The demand for aviation facilities continues to be strong, and these new corporate hangars will allow us to better serve the business community,” stated Adam Kiker, Chairman of the Moore County Airport Authority.
