Uncertain Future for Eclipse 500/550 Fleet as Sole Parts Supplier Shuts Down
The entire fleet of approximately 260 Eclipse 500 and 550 very light jets faces an uncertain future. This comes after Resurgent Aviation Solutions (RAS), the sole manufacturer of critical airworthiness parts for these aircraft, announced it is liquidating all assets and ceasing operations.
Based in Aurora, Illinois, RAS is the only source for essential components including autopilot servos, which are critical for the fleet’s continued airworthiness. RAS warned that approximately 30 Eclipse jets will become unairworthy per year due to the shortage of autopilot servos alone. This gives the fleet an estimated remaining lifespan of just eight years.
“We understand our place in the Eclipse ecosystem and the void liquidation will create,” RAS stated in a message to the Eclipse community. “It really is the end for RAS and, as a consequence, for Eclipse 500/550 customers.”
The company attempted to sell its business for several months but found no buyers. In a particularly devastating blow to Eclipse owners, RAS announced that all tooling and equipment will be sent to an industrial shredder and destroyed rather than sold. “We are truly heartbroken that we have no successor to build upon our work. We tried,” the company said.
An auction of remaining finished goods began on May 24, 2026, with RAS advising owners to “assume that every item of interest is the last one, as it may well be.” The company encouraged Eclipse operators to obtain spare parts immediately to assure the long-term airworthiness of their aircraft.
Without a supply source, required parts will become increasingly scarce, driving up prices and eventually rendering the entire fleet non-airworthy. Brokers are now advising that Eclipse pre-buy inspections include comprehensive parts audits.
