Anthropic Records Historic Profit as Q2 Revenue Skyrockets to $10.9B
Anthropic, a leading AI company, is set to make history with its first operating profit in Q2 2026. The company’s projected revenue is expected to reach a staggering $10.9 billion, more than doubling the $4.8 billion recorded in Q1. These figures were confirmed by CNBC on May 22, 2026, following a briefing with investors.
This explosive growth has positioned Anthropic, renowned for its Claude AI models, among the fastest-scaling software businesses in history. The company anticipates an operating profit of approximately $559 million for the quarter, a significant milestone that signifies the company’s ability to cover costs without solely relying on investor capital.
The company’s AI coding assistant, Claude Code, has been a major catalyst for this growth. It crossed the $1 billion mark in annualized revenue within just six months of its launch. This rapid adoption underscores the increasing reliance of enterprise engineering teams on AI-assisted development.
Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI executives, is currently in negotiations to raise funds at a $900 billion valuation. The company recently entered into a major compute deal with SpaceX, committing to pay $1.25 billion monthly until May 2029 for the use of capacity at SpaceX’s Colossus 1 data center in Memphis, Tennessee.
Despite these promising developments, analysts caution that sustained profitability remains uncertain. The company is expected to face substantial compute costs later in the year. Additionally, Anthropic is in direct competition with OpenAI, a company valued at over $850 billion and on the verge of launching its own IPO.
