Decade-High Aviation Fuel Prices Soar Further as 100LL Spikes in April 2026
U.S. aviation fuel prices continued their sharp upward climb in April 2026, with both 100LL avgas and Jet A reaching or approaching decade-high levels. This surge is largely attributed to the ongoing Middle East instability affecting energy markets.
Data released on May 7, 2026, from iFlightPlanner reveals the extent of this increase. National 100LL Full Service prices averaged $7.20 per gallon in April, marking a substantial increase of $0.40 (5.8%) compared to March. Meanwhile, 100LL Self Service averaged $6.01, up $0.33 (5.7%), providing approximately 16% savings where self-serve options are available.
Jet A fuel prices have already surpassed previous records, with April’s monthly average of $7.73 per gallon exceeding the July 2022 peak of $7.25—the previous decade high. National Jet A Full Service averaged $8.05 in April, up $0.41 (5.3%) from March. Hawaii reported the highest prices in the nation, with 100LL Full Service at $11.41 and Jet A Full Service at $11.08.
The April 2026 average 100LL price of $6.93 has already surpassed April 2022 levels, a year marked by significant fuel price spikes following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Industry analysts note that the July 2022 record of $7.55 per gallon for avgas could be exceeded before summer begins. The data, collected from 3,349 FBOs and fuel service providers across the United States, reflects sustained price pressures as supply chain constraints continue to impact the aviation fuel market.
