Over 8,000 Youth Engage in EAA’s Aviation Programs
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) proudly reports that over 8,000 young individuals have engaged in their youth aviation programs within the span of a year, from November 1, 2024, to October 31, 2025. This significant milestone underscores the organization’s ongoing success in sparking the interest of the next generation in aviation and aerospace careers.
The diverse programs offered by EAA include field trips, scout group activities, the Young Eagles free flight program for ages 8-17, and the Air Academy summer camps. The summer of 2025 saw more than 260 campers attending six sessions of the Air Academy, which provided a rich experience through hands-on activities, flight simulations, and demonstrations.
Two sessions were particularly notable for showcasing the new Discover Flight Camp. This camp placed a special emphasis on piloting, covering vital topics such as:
- Flight instruments
- Meteorology
- Airport operations
Moreover, 1,000 children across Wisconsin had the opportunity to participate through outreach programs. These programs saw EAA education team members visiting classrooms, career fairs, libraries, and airports. “Aviation education can help kids develop skills that are applicable to any field such as critical thinking and problem solving,” stated Alyssa Clancy, EAA Youth Education Center Program Manager.
Since its inception in 1992, the Young Eagles program has provided free introductory flights to almost 2.5 million young people, continuing to inspire the aviators of tomorrow.
