Textron Aviation Halts Production of Iconic Bonanza & Baron After 80 Years

In a significant move that marks the end of an era, Textron Aviation has announced the discontinuation of the legendary Beechcraft Bonanza G36 and Baron G58 aircraft production, once the current orders are completed. This decision brings a close to nearly eight decades of continuous production for two of the most recognizable piston aircraft in general aviation.

The decision is part of Textron’s strategic shift to channel resources towards its new Beechcraft Denali turboprop, slated to begin deliveries in 2026. With over 18,000 Bonanzas and 6,000 Barons delivered worldwide, these aircraft have been the pillars of the piston aviation market.

“As part of Textron Aviation’s product investment plan, the company will end production of the Beechcraft Baron G58 and Beechcraft Bonanza G36 models once all current orders are fulfilled,” the company stated. The decision comes in light of significantly declining sales volumes, with only five Bonanzas and two Barons delivered in 2024.
