Glossier’s CEO, Kyle Leahy, Announces Departure Following a Triennial of Success
Kyle Leahy, the esteemed CEO of the popular beauty brand Glossier, has recently announced her decision to step down from her role at the end of 2025. After successfully leading the company for three years, Leahy, who took over from founder Emily Weiss in 2022, plans to remain on the board until 2026 while assisting in the search for her successor.
Under Leahy’s visionary leadership, Glossier experienced a remarkable transformation. The brand evolved from its original direct-to-consumer model to form significant retail partnerships, most notably with Sephora in 2023. This strategic shift resulted in an impressive 80% growth in marketplace sales and a 35-point increase in profitability, adding approximately $60 million to the company’s EBITDA. Furthermore, Glossier’s fragrance category has flourished under Leahy’s guidance, becoming the brand’s largest and surpassing $100 million in sales.
“After stewarding the brand through a period of immense transformation, Glossier is larger and more profitable than ever before,” Leahy stated in her LinkedIn announcement. “The board and I believe this is the right moment to bring in the next CEO to lead a new phase of growth.”
While founder Emily Weiss will continue to serve as Executive Chairwoman, she has confirmed that she will not be returning to the CEO role.
